Welcome to the IUB Library's Borrowing Facility, where we provide seamless access to our extensive collection of books, journals, and other resources. Whether you’re a student, faculty member, staff, trustee, or patron, our borrowing services are designed to support your academic and research needs.

Students

All current IUB students with valid university ID cards have full borrowing privileges

Faculty Members

Full-time faculty members enjoy extended borrowing privileges to support their teaching and research activities.

Staff

University staff members can borrow materials to aid in their professional development and job-related research.

Trustees and Patrons

Trustees and patrons are welcome to use the borrowing services as per IUB Policy.

Borrowing Policy?

Borrowing Limits and Duration

Undergraduate Students

Up to 5 books for 14 days

Graduate Students

Up to 8 books for 28 days.

Faculty Members

Up to 15 books for 60 days.

Staff

Up to 5 books for 28 days.

Trustees and Patrons

Up to 3 books for 14 days.

Renewals

Books can be renewed online through the library portal or at the circulation desk unless they are reserved by another user.

Reserving Materials

If the book or resource you need is currently checked out, you can place a reservation online. You’ll be notified via email when the item is available for pickup.

Returns

All borrowed materials should be returned by the due date. Late returns may incur fines.

Special Collections

Certain materials, such as reference books, special collections, and high-demand course reserves, may have different borrowing rules. Please consult with library staff for more details.
The Library started off with a donation of 160 volumes of books from Dr. A Majeed Khan, the founder President and President Emeritus of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB). Located at the administrative block of the university’s permanent campus at Bashundhara, the library is now housed in a floor area of 22360 square feet, with a collection of more than 27000 volumes of printed books, more than 2500000 e-books, study spaces with computers and Wi-Fi connectivity.
